Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is dedicated to contributing to peace and development through volunteerism on a global scale. Established under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNV aims to integrate qualified and motivated volunteers into development programming while promoting the value of volunteerism worldwide. The organization operates in numerous countries, working closely with UN entities to strategically incorporate volunteerism into their mandates. UNV Field Units play a crucial role in identifying opportunities where volunteers can add unique value to development programs and peacekeeping missions, thereby enhancing the overall impact of UN initiatives.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer (OV) position is part of the UNV Pakistan Country Office's initiative to enhance equitable access to information and opportunities through the optimization of the volunteer onboarding process. This role specifically focuses on creating instructional video content in Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, to bridge language barriers and improve communication and data dissemination. The OV will be responsible for designing a short instructional video that effectively conveys essential information to candidates undergoing the UNV onboarding process. This assignment is remote, allowing the OV to work from any location without being stationed at a UN office or duty station.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include creatively designing an instructional video that lasts between 20 to 30 seconds. The OV will receive standardized Urdu content of approximately 200 to 300 words, which includes instructions, guidelines, and useful links relevant to the UNV onboarding process. The video must deliver this content clearly and precisely, serving as a visual guide for candidates. The OV will have the creative freedom to incorporate vibrant visuals, cultural nuances, video transitions, and background music, while adhering to UNV branding guidelines. Edits may be requested by the UNV focal point to ensure alignment with the organization's standards. The OV is expected to submit original work and provide access to layered project files and associated assets for future modifications.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong video editing and design skills, demonstrated through a portfolio that showcases their past work. The ability to creatively convey information through visual media is essential. Familiarity with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Canva, or similar tools is required. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of branding and design principles to ensure that the final product aligns with UNV's guidelines. The OV must also be able to work independently and manage their time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not explicitly stated, a background in multimedia design, graphic design, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that supports their ability to create engaging video content.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in video editing and design, with a portfolio that demonstrates their skills and creativity. Experience working on similar projects, particularly in a volunteer or non-profit context, is advantageous. The OV should be comfortable working remotely and managing their own schedule to complete the assignment effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in Urdu is mandatory, as the video content must be developed in this language. Proficiency in English is also beneficial, as it may facilitate communication with UNV staff and understanding of guidelines. Additional language skills could be an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a remote assignment, meaning that the Online Volunteer will not be required to report to any physical office or duty station. The duration of the contract is not specified, but candidates should be prepared to commit to the project timeline as outlined by the UNV. The role is not a paid position, and Online Volunteers are not considered employees or agents of UNV. By submitting their work, candidates agree to transfer all intellectual property rights to UNV, allowing the organization to use the content without limitations.
