Job Overview: The UN Volunteer Associate in Monitoring and Evaluation will support the Regional Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PM&E) Unit in ensuring that regional and country-level interventions are backed by robust evidence and results-based reporting. The role involves collaborating with Country Offices to enhance monitoring and reporting quality, aligning regional reporting with the 2026–2029 Strategic Plan requirements. The UNV will provide technical assistance in tracking regional progress and will work under the supervision of the M&E Advisor. This position is crucial for supporting the implementation of Results-Based Management (RBM) principles across the Arab States region, ensuring that programming remains impact-oriented and effective in achieving UNFPA's strategic commitments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake various tasks including:
Supporting the implementation of Results-Based Management principles across the Arab States region to ensure that programming is impact-oriented.
Assisting in the review process of Quarterly and Annual reports for both regional and country offices against standard UNFPA quality criteria.
Supporting the analysis of regional implementation progress, overseeing regular data quality checks, and tracking higher-level indicators.
Assisting regional units and country offices in developing robust M&E frameworks and monitoring plans.
Providing input to the country offices’ Midterm reviews.
Reviewing the terms of reference of the country offices' programme evaluations.
Supporting the unit in utilizing AI for data synthesis and predictive analysis to improve regional reporting efficiency.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate a commitment to the values of the United Nations and have a proactive approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with Results-Based Management principles and experience in monitoring and evaluation processes are essential. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of data analysis and reporting, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A degree in social sciences, public health, international development, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles and practices of monitoring and evaluation in the context of international development.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of sexual and reproductive health, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and objectives will be an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and contributing to evidence-based reporting.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation efforts. Additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the specific context of the role.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Cairo, Egypt, which is a family duty station with good living conditions and a wide range of services. The National UN Specialist Volunteer will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance of USD 1,306.5 per month, along with a one-time Entry Lump-Sum of USD 4,000 and an Exit Lump-Sum upon completion of the contract.
