Job Overview:
The position of Consultant is focused on supporting the coordination of the EFFICACE project, which aims to transform the educational system in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The consultant will provide close support in implementing technical activities related to the project, which is designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning conditions. The project is part of a broader initiative that seeks to professionalize the teaching function and is supported by financial backing for various educational reforms. The consultant will work closely with local educational institutions and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of educational activities, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing educational quality in the DRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: supporting the development of administrative documents related to project activities such as terms of reference, conceptual notes, and reports; assisting in the creation of pedagogical tools for educational institutions; facilitating training for stakeholders involved in the project; overseeing the pedagogical and administrative follow-up processes; contributing to the establishment of effective governance plans for educational institutions; and preparing reports on project progress and outcomes. The consultant will also be expected to engage in the planning and organization of training sessions and workshops, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives and UNESCO's standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree at the Bachelor's or Master's level in fields related to education, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines. They should have a proven track record of at least 10 years of experience in programs dedicated to the humanities, particularly in education. A strong understanding of the educational system and its challenges in the DRC is essential, along with experience in implementing educational reforms and projects. Candidates should also have experience leading multidisciplinary teams and possess excellent planning and organizational skills. Proficiency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language for reporting and communication within the project.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in education, social sciences, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in educational reform and project management.

Experience:
The consultant is expected to have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field of education, particularly in programs related to the humanities. This experience should include a solid understanding of the educational landscape in the DRC, involvement in educational reform initiatives, and a history of collaboration with UNESCO or similar organizations on educational projects. Leadership experience in managing diverse teams is also crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position, as it is the language of documentation and communication. While not required, proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with local stakeholders or contributes to the project's objectives.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this consultancy position is expected to last between 1 to 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The position is open to external candidates, and applicants must be authorized to work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The consultant will work under the authority of the Chief of Office and the UNESCO Representative in Kinshasa, with direct supervision from the Chief of the Education Sector.
