SI has been active in Nigeria for 10 years, with a coordination office located in Abuja and regional bases in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria. The annual budget for the Nigeria mission is approximately 5 million USD, funded by various institutional donors, and emphasizes a partnership approach and localization to enhance its interventions.

Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator will oversee the logistical aspects of the mission across Nigeria, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. This role involves managing logistics teams, developing procurement plans, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to address challenges such as staffing changes and limited access to sub-bases, necessitating remote management. The first few months will focus on enhancing the logistic team's capabilities, supporting the opening of a new base in Northwest Nigeria, and conducting reviews of procurement processes. The Logistics Coordinator will also play a crucial role in relocating the coordination office to Abuja, ensuring that logistical operations align with the mission's objectives and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Coordinate all logistical operations for the mission, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and internal policies.
  • Supervise the Deputy Logistics Coordinator and ITC Responsible, providing technical guidance to Logistics Managers in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria.
  • Develop and implement procurement plans, obtaining necessary validations from headquarters for new projects.
  • Conduct regular reviews with program managers to assess procurement progress and update schedules and delivery deadlines.
  • Support the establishment of a new base in Northwest Nigeria, ensuring all logistical needs are met.
  • Manage budgets effectively, preparing accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide training and capacity building for logistics staff at base levels.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols, particularly regarding movement and access in the field.
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments and stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Logistics, Transport, Warehousing, IT, Supply Chain, or Management. Additionally, candidates should have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a similar duration of experience in a logistics role. Strong command of logistics procedures and donor regulations is essential, along with problem-solving and analytical skills. Candidates should demonstrate strong management and training capabilities, as well as experience in budget management and reporting. Previous experience in Nigeria or in complex emergencies is advantageous, and familiarity with Solidarités International's operations is highly valued.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Logistics, Transport, Warehousing, IT, Supply Chain, or Management. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics management in humanitarian contexts and ensuring compliance with various regulations and policies.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in logistics roles. This experience should include managing logistics operations, developing procurement strategies, and working in challenging environments. Familiarity with the specific context of Nigeria or similar complex emergencies will be considered a significant asset, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate the unique challenges present in such settings.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills in English to effectively coordinate with team members, stakeholders, and partners. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered beneficial but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is a short-term contract with an immediate start date. The Logistics Coordinator will be based in Abuja, with frequent field visits expected to regional offices in Maiduguri and potentially Gusau or Sokoto. The salary for this position starts at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates will also benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Abuja are described as good, with access to various amenities, while field bases offer comfortable accommodations despite security restrictions.
