Job Overview:
The Service Support Staff position is crucial for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment within the NRC office. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including daily cleaning tasks, kitchen management, and food preparation. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Service Support Staff include but are not limited to:
  • Daily floor care, including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and spot-cleaning carpets in all office areas.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of washrooms and common areas, including washing and changing hand towels.
  • Stocking washrooms with necessary supplies such as tissue papers, air fresheners, and hand washing soap.
  • Cleaning windows in all rooms and management offices.
  • Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the office interior.
  • Maintaining the kitchen area, including washing utensils and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Performing dusting, disinfecting, and polishing of surfaces and furniture as needed.
  • Removing trash from office areas, emptying wastepaper baskets, dustbins, and shredding machines.
  • Preparing and serving tea and refreshments to NRC staff and visitors. 1
  • Cooking responsibilities, including preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks based on the office meal plan. 1
  • Maintaining kitchen hygiene by cleaning cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment before and after use. 1
  • Managing kitchen inventory by monitoring stock and notifying administration for restocking. 1
  • Ensuring food safety by following proper hygiene practices. 1
  • Serving food at scheduled times, ensuring meals are presented attractively and safely.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Service Support Staff position include:
  • Experience working as service support staff in a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Previous experience in complex and volatile environments.
  • Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Some knowledge of English is preferred.
  • Creative and flexible approach to food production and presentation.
  • Presentable demeanor, friendly attitude, and patience in interactions with staff and visitors.
  • Attention to detail in all tasks performed.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Certificate of Secondary Education as a minimum educational requirement. This foundational education is essential for understanding and executing the responsibilities associated with the Service Support Staff role effectively.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience with International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) in similar roles is required. This experience should include at least 2 years of relevant experience in institutional food preparation and service, demonstrating the ability to manage kitchen operations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Languages:
The ability to speak and understand English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
