Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Business Support Assistant include:
  • Contributing to the review of budget plans and monitoring financial project performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Performing sub-allotment based on requests and making recommendations in compliance with WFP financial policies.
  • Providing basic analysis on fund and grant balances and referring to supervisors for fund utilization.
  • Entering accurate data into corporate systems within established deadlines to facilitate planning and decision-making.
  • Compiling data and preparing periodic and ad hoc reports to support the accuracy and efficiency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining communication with colleagues regarding project funds management to clarify discrepancies and optimize fund usage.
  • Following standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond effectively to crises.
  • Monitoring sub-imprest bank and petty cash accounts to ensure adequate funds are available.
  • Supporting the Finance Assistant in preparing monthly cash forecasts and reconciliations. 1
  • Tracking open items, vendor payables, and operational advances. 1
  • Ensuring proper filing of all documentation related to the unit's financial activities. 1
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget, accounting, and statistical reports as required. 1
  • Acting as an alternate for Budget and Finance staff in their absence.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in roles that involve financial documentation and budget analysis. Candidates should have experience in collecting and monitoring financial data on projects and programs, as well as assessing financial transactions and reporting. Familiarity with WFP financial policies and procedures is advantageous, as is experience in a humanitarian or development context. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education, and a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is desirable. Experience:
