Job Overview:
The SRHR Country Programme Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) programs in the Marshall Islands. This position is based in the UNFPA Country Office in Majuro and involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Human Services (MoHHS). The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of the Annual Work Plan 2026 (AWP2026) related to SRHR, working within a dynamic interdisciplinary team. The role requires a strong commitment to UNFPA's strategic plan, which focuses on accelerating progress in family planning, maternal health, and gender-based violence prevention. The coordinator will also serve as a technical focal point for SRHR within the RMNCAH coordination mechanism, supporting the secretariat in agenda setting and reporting on SRHR-related progress. This position demands a proactive approach to program management, advocacy, and partnership building to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing essential health services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The SRHR Country Programme Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the design and implementation of SRHR activities, including contraceptive logistics management and youth-friendly health services.
  • Ensuring quality service delivery at all Service Delivery Points in the Marshall Islands, including outer islands, by providing necessary training and resources.
  • Developing and submitting progress reports, including financial reports, for the SRHR program.
  • Documenting lessons learned and securely storing monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Coordinating RMNCAH Committee activities and facilitating regular meetings to monitor results.
  • Advocating for universal access to SRHR information and services at national and community levels.
  • Organizing SRHR-related events such as training, workshops, and conferences.
  • Building partnerships with government departments, implementing partners, donors, and development agencies to mobilize resources for SRHR initiatives.
  • Supporting monitoring of SRHR indicators in collaboration with MOHHS and UNFPA colleagues. 1
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by the MoHHS supervisor and UNFPA.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Associate degree in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, Economics, International Relations, International Development, Public Administration, Management, or related disciplines. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of experience in program management and development relevant to sexual and reproductive health. Knowledge and practical experience in monitoring and evaluation, as well as information management, are essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are critical for success in this role. Previous experience with the UN or other international organizations, particularly UNFPA, is an asset. Proficiency in MS Office programs is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an Associate degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, Economics, International Relations, International Development, Public Administration, Management, or related disciplines. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of academic achievement and understanding of the complexities involved in sexual and reproductive health programs.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in program management and development related to sexual and reproductive health. This experience should include knowledge of and practical involvement in SRHR initiatives, as well as familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes. Experience in donor reporting and working within a team environment is also beneficial. Previous engagement with UNFPA or similar international organizations will be considered an asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the UN system and its operational frameworks.

Languages:
Proficiency in both spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of Pacific languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is full-time and based in Majuro, Marshall Islands. Compensation will be provided on a monthly schedule upon satisfactory delivery of associated deliverables.
