Job Overview: The Strategy and Operations Adviser will play a pivotal role in the Operational Support and Strategy (OSS) department, which encompasses Global Finance, ICT, Supply Chain, and Strategy, Planning, and Knowledge Management. This position is crucial for ensuring that the department's operations align with NRC's strategic objectives. The adviser will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, facilitating planning and budgeting processes, and ensuring effective internal communication. The role requires a proactive approach to support the Deputy Secretary General and the OSS management team, driving organizational development initiatives and optimizing operational activities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Strategy and Operations Adviser will be responsible for supporting the OSS management team and the Global Finance management team, managing daily operations and administration, and tracking decisions to ensure efficient workflows. Key responsibilities include facilitating the annual planning, strategy, and budgeting processes, developing balanced scorecards, and monitoring implementation. The adviser will also lead internal communication efforts, coordinate contributions for reports to the Senior Management Group and the Board, and contribute to specific initiatives or projects as delegated by the department director. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent qualification, preferably at the master’s degree level. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector or a related field is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong facilitation and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with diverse stakeholders. High-quality communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with excellent administrative skills related to management support, strategy development, and cross-departmental coordination. Documented experience and results related to the position’s responsibilities are also necessary.
Educational Background: A university degree or equivalent qualification is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a master’s degree. The educational background should be relevant to the humanitarian sector or related fields, providing a solid foundation for the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience within the humanitarian sector or an equivalent field. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing operations, facilitating strategic planning, and supporting organizational development initiatives. Experience in working with senior management and facilitating high-level meetings is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of Norwegian is preferable, as it will enhance communication within the organization and with local stakeholders.
