Job Overview: The consultant will play a vital role in the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Unit within IOM Pakistan, which is responsible for consolidating and translating DTM data into standardized reports and information products. The consultant's primary focus will be on supporting the preparation, development, and quality assurance of DTM outputs, ensuring that reports are consistent, clear, and timely. The position requires collaboration with IOM DTM technical staff and involves producing various reports, including the Afghan Response Report, Climate Vulnerability Assessment, and Flood Response Report. The consultant will be expected to analyze data, identify trends, and contribute to operational planning and advocacy efforts based on the findings from these reports.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
Produce the Afghan Response Report Round 3, which will analyze community needs of Afghan nationals and host communities in Pakistan based on data collected through interviews and observations.
Develop the Climate Vulnerability Assessment for Umerkot District, focusing on climate-related mobility and vulnerabilities affecting local communities.
Create the Flood Response Report Round 5, evaluating displacement dynamics and needs following recurrent flooding in Pakistan.
Follow a standardized production process for each report, including data analysis planning, drafting, internal reviews, and finalizing reports for publication.
Ensure timely delivery of all reports in accordance with the agreed schedule and quality standards.
Coordinate effectively with IOM DTM staff to facilitate smooth report production processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator for report production. Strong analytical and data-handling skills are essential, including experience with Excel for data verification and quality control. The ability to manage multiple reporting tasks independently while meeting deadlines is crucial. Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail are required to ensure compliance with reporting standards. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work harmoniously within multidisciplinary teams and deliver high-quality outputs under time constraints.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Public Relations, Social Sciences, Political Science, or related fields is required. A Master’s degree in relevant subjects is an advantage, providing a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in migration and displacement issues.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant working experience, particularly in analytical and technical reporting related to displacement tracking. Experience in drafting and finalizing assessment reports and other publication-ready analytical products is essential. Familiarity with the local context and experience working with local government representatives will be beneficial. Prior experience with UN agencies or international organizations is an advantage, as it demonstrates an understanding of the operational environment and standards expected in such roles.
Languages: English is the required language for this position, as it is one of IOM's official languages. Proficiency in other local languages and regional languages is recommended, as it may enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the necessary communication standards.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, and travel is not anticipated unless specifically approved by IOM. The consultancy will be subject to funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational incidents.
