The UNDP Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development (GC-TISD) is a part of UNDP’s Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub. Established in 2019 as a joint initiative of the Government of Singapore and UNDP, the Centre is located in Singapore and leverages the country's strengths in sustainability policy, technology, and innovation. It engages a broad ecosystem of government agencies, private sector actors, academia, and thought leaders to connect policymakers, practitioners, and experts globally. The Centre's mission is to identify, co-create, and scale innovative and technological solutions that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Overview:
The internship at GC-TISD offers a unique opportunity for interns to engage in a rich learning experience across various areas. Interns will gain in-depth insights and hands-on experience in communications and engagement, sustainable development and technological innovation, and multilateralism and global collaboration. They will contribute to the communications strategy and workplan of the Centre, maintain calendars for events and social media, review metrics for digital platforms, and assist in planning outreach activities. Interns will also support content creation, event management, and provide ad-hoc support to Centre staff, thereby enhancing their understanding of the intersection between technology and sustainable development practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communications Plan and Strategy Delivery Support: Contribute to the communications strategy and workplan of the Centre; maintain the calendar of events and social media calendar for LinkedIn, X, Viva Engage, and others; review and report metrics for all digital platforms, including the Centre’s website and social media channels; plan communications and outreach activities focused both internally and externally; identify, create, and manage comms-related systems and processes for consistent delivery of professional communications output; help establish and maintain the overall brand positioning of the Centre.
  • Content Creation and Management: Support programme teams to conceptualize and ideate all forms of content, including blogs, videos, infographics, newsletters, white papers, reports, and thought leadership articles; develop graphic and visual content that follows UNDP brand guidelines.
  • Event Management Support: Assist in planning and delivering internal and external events; support in creating and disseminating pre- and post-event communications materials.
  • Ad-hoc support to the Centre staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies. Preferred fields of study include Communications, Media, Marketing, International Development, Sustainable Development, Political Science, or a related field. Familiarity with producing various communications materials is essential, as well as being in tune with social media trends and developments. Knowledge of the international media ecosystem and challenges facing the international development and public sector is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be currently in their final year of a Bachelor’s degree, currently enrolled in a Master’s degree, or have graduated no longer than one year ago from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies. Preferred fields of study include Communications, Media, Marketing, International Development, Sustainable Development, Political Science, or a related field.

Experience:
Interns should have familiarity with producing various communications materials such as social media graphics, videos, blogs, and presentations. Experience in coordinating events and gatherings with multiple actors, including government and civil society, is also important. Knowledge of (data) visualization and analysis tools is an advantage, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Languages:
Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
UNDP will not pay interns for the internship but will provide a stipend of approximately 859.13 SGD monthly. Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station. They must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan and are expected to work full time, with flexibility allowed for education programmes. Interns must be nationals of the duty station or have a valid residency permit.
