Job Overview: The Senior Investment Officer position within the Corporate Finance Services (CFS) team at IFC is a pivotal role aimed at supporting the execution of business strategies in the Asia region. This position is designed for a seasoned professional with strong experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate finance. The officer will work closely with regional teams to facilitate business development and execute transactions that align with the strategic priorities of the World Bank Group. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government entities and private sector partners, to drive the origination and execution of advisory mandates. The Senior Investment Officer will also lead pre-IPO advisory processes, manage client relationships, and mentor junior colleagues, thereby contributing to the overall growth and effectiveness of the CFS team.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Investment Officer include:
Strategy Development: Collaborating with regional teams to design and implement CFS’s strategy, focusing on the strategic priorities of the World Bank Group in the Asia region.
M&A Advisory: Driving the origination and execution of buy-side and sell-side advisory mandates, as well as restructuring advisory and equity mobilization program services.
Pre-IPO Advisory: Leading the origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates, including advising clients on listing processes, corporate structure, and governance.
Relationship Management: Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities that enhance business development.
Client Management: Assisting clients in developing transaction strategies, conducting bankability assessments, and financial modeling.
Documentation: Overseeing the drafting of key transaction reports and project documentation, including marketing documents and transaction contracts.
Mentorship: Providing guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues to help them achieve business targets.
Corporate Initiative: Supporting IFC’s brand in the CFS space and contributing to overall communications strategy.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Senior Investment Officer position must possess a robust set of qualifications, including:
Extensive experience in equity transactions, either as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter, particularly within investment banks, venture capital, or private equity institutions.
Proven transaction advisory experience in buy-side and sell-side mandates, as well as restructuring mandates, preferably within the disruptive technology sector.
A strong track record of delivering results on M&A, restructuring, and IPO mandates under tight deadlines and challenging environments.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and execute mandates across borders.
Experience with public offerings on major international stock exchanges is advantageous.
Excellent team player with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent IFC externally and manage relationships with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting. This educational background should be complemented by a minimum of 12-15 years of relevant experience in the field, ideally encompassing a blend of finance, investment, and advisory roles.
