Job Overview: The Microsoft Power BI Specialist position at UNRWA is crucial for enhancing the agency's data analytics capabilities. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Microsoft Power BI Specialist include:
Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather and analyze data requirements, translating these into user stories for development.
Creating and designing new Power BI reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards that meet the needs of various departments.
Reviewing and enhancing existing BI reporting solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Integrating new technologies such as PowerFlow and PowerApps to advance analytics capabilities.
Implementing statistical data quality procedures for new data sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Conducting sanity checks and unit testing of reports, and participating in end-user testing to resolve bugs and issues.
Liaising with other operational teams to provide insights on performance, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and user interface improvements.
Developing comprehensive documentation and training materials, and conducting training sessions for users as needed.
Communicating project plans, status updates, and issues to project management. 1
A minimum of two years of work experience in software applications development and implementation, specifically in building reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with DAX, as well as familiarity with Power BI service on Microsoft Azure.
Good experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server on-premise.
Knowledge of the full Microsoft Analytics and Reporting stack, including SSRS, PowerPivot, PowerBuilder, and PowerApps.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree or a master's degree from an accredited educational institution in relevant fields such as information technology, information management, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, business administration, or management. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in software applications development and implementation. Candidates should have hands-on experience in building reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, as well as proficiency in SQL and DAX. Experience with Power BI service on Microsoft Azure and familiarity with SSIS and SQL Server on-premise are also essential. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate can effectively contribute to the agency's data analytics initiatives from day one.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is crucial for effective communication with stakeholders and for the development of training materials and documentation. Additional Notes: The consultancy duration for this position is between 6 to 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. The remuneration for this consultancy role is USD 1,259.40, plus an 8.33% advanced termination indemnity, contingent upon fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
