This position is pivotal in addressing gender inequality in Nepal through a comprehensive approach that tackles both formal and informal barriers faced by women and girls. The specialist will oversee the day-to-day management of the programme, ensuring that objectives are met within the specified timeframe and budget while adhering to ILO's operational procedures. The role involves promoting the ILO's mandate in technical areas related to gender equality and economic empowerment, and coordinating with other ILO interventions in the country. The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the programme, working closely with national staff and other stakeholders to maximize the programme's impact.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Specialist will ensure effective implementation of the programme by accurately planning, controlling, monitoring, and evaluating programme activities to ensure timely delivery of outputs. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in public policies, economics, business management, marketing, social sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) combined with nine years of relevant experience may be accepted. The position requires a strong background in development cooperation projects, particularly in women’s economic empowerment and gender equality, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in a relevant field is essential for this position. Candidates with a first-level university degree and extensive experience in related areas may also be considered. The educational background should ideally include studies in public policies, economics, business management, or social sciences, equipping the candidate with the necessary analytical and strategic skills to fulfill the role effectively.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience in managing development cooperation projects is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked at the international level and in leadership roles. Experience in women’s economic empowerment, gender equality in the workplace, and private sector development is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Nepali context and experience in implementing UN joint projects will be advantageous.
Languages: Excellent command of English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of Nepali or another local language would be beneficial, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and partners.
