Job Overview:
The Information Analyst will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the political, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, humanitarian, and human rights situations in the mission area and its neighboring regions. This role involves conducting trend analysis and predictive analysis to inform senior leadership decisions. The position requires the production of accurate and timely reports, analysis, and briefings that support decision-making and policy development. The analyst will also be responsible for maintaining JMAC tools and coordinating with other mission components to ensure effective information management and dissemination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Information Analyst include:
  • Maintaining an understanding of the political, security, humanitarian, and human rights situation in the mission area and neighboring regions.
  • Conducting trend analysis and mid-to-long term predictive analysis.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to gather and verify information from various sources, including MONUSCO components, UN agencies, national authorities, and NGOs.
  • Producing accurate and timely reports, analysis, and briefings for senior leaders.
  • Preparing, editing, and disseminating information in various formats, including reports, incident assessments, and risk maps.
  • Maintaining and coordinating JMAC tools, including Priority Information Requirements and Information Acquisition Plans.
  • Providing briefings to the Mission Leadership Team and representing JMAC in meetings.
  • Maintaining a system for classifying and storing confidential information.
  • Fostering effective working relationships with MONUSCO components and external actors. 1
  • Supporting the UN Crisis Management Team as required. 1
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Chief JMAC.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires strong analytical skills and experience in information collection and management. Candidates should have excellent drafting and editing skills, with the ability to produce cogent reports. Proven analytical ability and experience in building information networks in complex environments are essential. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to integrate various perspectives into analytical products and coordinate with multiple actors within the UN system. Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political or international affairs, intelligence or information analysis, security operations, or related fields is required. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in an analytical team, conducting data collection and analysis, including geospatial analysis. Proven experience in drafting high-quality documents in English and French under tight deadlines is necessary, along with experience supervising military, police, and national staff in a multicultural team. At least three years of work experience in conflict analysis in post-conflict operations is required, including two years in the Great Lakes region.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with specific skill levels outlined in the UN Language Framework.
