Job Overview: The Principal position is a pivotal role within the organization, primarily focused on enhancing fundraising activities for the Unit. The individual will oversee new product development initiatives and manage key donor relationships, particularly with the European Union, to mobilize funding effectively. The Principal will also play a crucial role in enabling the SME F&D Grants team to meet its annual targets through various activities, including strategy development, market analysis, quality assurance, and participation in the planning and implementation of consultancy assignments. This role requires a proactive approach to managing relationships with stakeholders and ensuring that the team achieves its objectives in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal will supervise the day-to-day activities of the SME F&D Grants team, ensuring that objectives are met efficiently. Key responsibilities include overseeing the development of programs and products that involve collaboration with stakeholders across the bank and donor organizations. The Principal will establish and maintain strong relationships with selected donors, particularly focusing on the EU, to develop compelling funding proposals. Timely reporting on program progress and impact to funding donors is essential. The role also involves working with country teams to design and review new products and programs, conducting quality assurance and due diligence on TC and non-TC projects, and managing special initiatives that require coordination across teams. Additionally, the Principal will assist in the internal approval processes for grants and contribute to the development of communication materials to promote SME F&D activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong academic background, ideally holding a relevant Master’s degree in fields such as Economics, MBA, MPA, or International Development from a leading university. Relevant professional experience is essential, preferably gained from an International Financial Institution (IFI), the European Union, development organizations, commercial management consultancies, or donor organizations. Knowledge of donor-funded work and experience in mobilizing donor funds, particularly with the EU, is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to multitask are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or International Development is required. The degree should be from a reputable institution, reflecting a strong academic foundation necessary for the analytical and strategic aspects of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant professional experience, ideally with a background in international financial institutions, development organizations, or donor agencies. Experience in donor fund mobilization and knowledge of the EU's funding mechanisms will be advantageous. A proven track record in managing processes and teams to successfully bring programs from conception to execution is also important.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages such as Russian or French, as well as other languages relevant to the countries of operation, would be considered an asset.
