UN-Habitat's Global Solutions Division is responsible for programmatic direction and delivery of the Strategic Plan, and it hosts the Local 2030 Coalition's Secretariat, coordinating efforts on SDG Localization.

Job Overview:

The selected candidate will be responsible for video production and editing, creating high-quality video content that effectively communicates the organization's key messages and initiatives. This role involves collaborating with the communications team to ensure that videos align with branding and strategic messaging. The intern will also assist in developing and scheduling social media content, contributing to broader digital communication activities, and enhancing online visibility and audience engagement. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in multimedia production within an international organization and to enhance professional video editing and design skills while contributing to real-world communication outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's primary responsibilities include editing and producing high-quality video content, which encompasses interviews, B-roll, and event footage. The intern will ensure smooth storytelling and technical excellence in the videos produced. They will create short-form social media clips and longer stitched videos, add captions and subtitles for accessibility, and apply post-production enhancements such as colour correction and sound balancing. Additionally, the intern will support the planning and organization of video shoots, prepare shot lists, review raw footage, and maintain version control of edited materials. In terms of communications and social media, the intern will assist in developing and scheduling content, support digital communication activities, and contribute creative ideas for enhancing online engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level), or have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree. Candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. Familiarity with Adobe After Effects and other animation tools is desirable, as is a strong interest in local governance and development.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent), or being enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program. Preferred areas of study include Film Production, Multimedia, Graphic Design, Communication, Journalism, or related fields. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in video editing software and have knowledge of colour grading, sound editing, and subtitling workflows.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, they must have a field of study closely related to the internship. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of video editing and production processes, as well as experience with digital communications and social media content creation being desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship position, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN language is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's profile for the role.
