Job Overview:
The Driver position is crucial for the effective functioning of the ASYCUDA Programme, which supports customs modernization and trade facilitation. The incumbent will be responsible for safely transporting authorized personnel and, in peacekeeping missions, handling general cargo and specialized hazardous goods. The role involves making deliveries of parcels and documents between the UN office and various institutions, including ministries and embassies. The Driver will also be tasked with minor purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers, ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The position requires the Driver to meet official personnel at the airport and assist with immigration and customs formalities. The Driver must maintain the assigned vehicles, perform minor repairs, and ensure cleanliness. Logging official trips and ensuring adherence to safety regulations in case of accidents are also part of the job. The Driver is expected to apply good judgment in all assignments and perform additional duties as assigned by the ASYCUDA Regional Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Safely driving vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and cargo.
• Making regular deliveries of parcels and documents between the UN office and other institutions.
• Conducting minor purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers.
• Collecting goods from customs while adhering to regulations.
• Meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs procedures.
• Interacting effectively with officials and visitors.
• Performing day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires.
• Logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance activities.
• Ensuring compliance with rules and regulations in case of accidents. 1
• Applying good judgment in assignments and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with driver training. The position requires a minimum of two years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record. Experience driving various types of vehicles, including vans, is essential. Familiarity with international organizations, particularly the United Nations, is desirable. Candidates must also exhibit professionalism, effective communication skills, and a client-oriented approach.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, candidates must have completed driver training and hold a valid driver's license. It is essential to attach a copy of the valid license in the application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of driving experience, with a proven safe driving record. Candidates should have experience operating a variety of vehicles, including vans and other motorized vehicles. Experience working with international organizations, especially the United Nations, is considered an asset.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of Dari and Pashto is desirable, with a similar proficiency level expected in these languages as well.

Additional Notes:
This position is temporarily available for three months. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be treated as a temporary assignment. The position is limited to candidates based at the duty station and may be restricted to internal candidates.
