Job Overview:
The National Consultant for the Development Egypt Voluntary National Review (VNR) 2026 will play a crucial role in supporting the Egyptian government in preparing for the Voluntary National Review process. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather data, analyze progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and compile a comprehensive report that reflects Egypt's achievements and challenges. The consultant will be expected to engage with government officials, civil society, and other relevant entities to ensure a participatory approach in the review process. The assignment is set to take place from February 2026 to June 2026, spanning a total of 30 working days. The consultant must ensure that the final report is aligned with UNDP guidelines and effectively communicates Egypt's commitment to the SDGs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting a thorough review of existing data and reports related to Egypt's progress on the SDGs.
  • Engaging with government ministries, local authorities, and civil society organizations to collect qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Facilitating workshops and meetings to discuss findings and gather input from stakeholders.
  • Analyzing data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement in achieving the SDGs.
  • Drafting the Voluntary National Review report, ensuring it meets UNDP standards and guidelines.
  • Presenting findings to key stakeholders and incorporating feedback into the final report.
  • Providing recommendations for future actions to enhance Egypt's progress towards the SDGs.
  • Ensuring timely submission of deliverables as per the agreed timeline.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A strong background in development studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting research and analysis related to sustainable development and the SDGs.
  • Familiarity with the Voluntary National Review process and UNDP guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear reports.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software is an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have at least a Master's degree in development studies, public policy, social sciences, or a related field. A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant area will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in development consulting, research, or policy analysis, particularly in the context of sustainable development and the SDGs. Experience working with government agencies or international organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage, particularly French or Spanish, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders.
