Job Overview: The Regional Sudan Crisis Adviser position is crucial for ensuring effective management, coordination, and quality oversight of regional projects related to the Sudan crisis. The adviser will work closely with country offices that are directly linked to the Sudan response and those hosting Sudanese refugees, including South Sudan, Chad, Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Libya. The role is designed to provide dedicated capacity at the regional level to manage donor-funded initiatives and support country offices in delivering a collective, high-quality response to the crisis. The adviser will also collaborate with country advocacy managers and regional advocacy teams to implement joint advocacy and communication initiatives aligned with the response strategies for the regional crisis. This position requires a strategic approach to program development, ensuring coherence and complementarity between country and regional initiatives, and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Regional Sudan Crisis Adviser will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including providing advice and guidance to Country Directors and Heads of Programmes, managing designated regional and multi-country projects, and ensuring optimal program strategies and resources are in place. Specific responsibilities include coordinating prioritised support to country offices, identifying programmatic approaches that enhance complementarity between country responses, and supporting the development and alignment of country response strategies. The adviser will also identify new business development opportunities, maintain relationships with stakeholders, facilitate training and briefings for country office staff, and ensure compliance with NRC policies and procedures. Additionally, the adviser will manage the overall coordination, planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and close-out of regional projects, ensuring high-quality donor reporting and supporting project modification processes as needed. The role also involves contributing to evidence-based advocacy and communication efforts, producing regional situation reports, and facilitating cross-country learning and experience sharing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Regional Sudan Crisis Adviser position must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience within the humanitarian or recovery context, with at least 3 years in a managerial or advisory role. They should have specialist knowledge and expertise equivalent to an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as international development, politics, or social science. Knowledge of institutional donors' strategies and compliance requirements is considered an asset.
