Job Overview:
The position of Comunicador de la OCR involves strengthening the capacity of the United Nations System (SNU) to effectively communicate its strategic priorities through social media. The role is crucial in positioning the potentialities and results of inter-agency work to strategic audiences, including national counterparts, international cooperation partners, and UN personnel in Cuba. The job requires a proactive approach to content creation and social media management, ensuring that the UN's messages resonate with diverse audiences and contribute to the overall mission of sustainable development in Cuba.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Comunicador de la OCR include:
  • Developing a monthly social media publication plan that aligns with global strategic priorities and specific UN priorities in Cuba.
  • Proposing relevant content to the UN Cuba communicator and planning it collaboratively on a weekly basis.
  • Identifying and utilizing UN resources (documents, websites, visual and graphic resources) for social media content production.
  • Creating multimedia content that highlights joint initiatives, using creative multimedia language.
  • Generating content for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, ensuring at least two posts daily, including videos, infographics, and other multimedia resources as needed.
  • Publishing weekly notes on the UN agencies' work on the website, focusing on inter-agency activities, projects, and initiatives.
  • Contributing to the positioning of UN Cuba's social media by promoting organic growth of virtual communities on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Monitoring social media analytics and proposing actions to improve content, increase audiences, and expand outreach.
  • Informing the team about audience interactions that require responses from UN Cuba and alerting about potentially offensive messages. 1
  • Collaborating with the UN Cuba communicator on advocacy ideas that enhance audience interaction and public communication leadership. 1
  • Supporting the communicator in covering events that require extensive public communication efforts. 1
  • Participating in the creation of interviews, reports, or other journalistic genres for the web. 1
  • Mastering the digital platform of the website and assisting in its systematic updates.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include:
  • A degree in Journalism or Social Communication.
  • Experience in managing social media and community management.
  • Knowledge of the Cuban press system.
  • Skills in video production and editing, as well as infographics.
  • Proficiency in basic editing and design software such as Canva.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build alliances.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a degree in areas related to Journalism or Social Communication. This educational background is essential for understanding the nuances of media communication and effectively engaging with diverse audiences.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in managing social media platforms and community engagement. Familiarity with the Cuban press system is also necessary, as it will inform the communicator's approach to content creation and audience interaction. Experience in multimedia production, including video and infographics, is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of English is desirable, as it may enhance communication with international partners and stakeholders.
