The School Meals Accelerator (the Accelerator) is a new initiative under the School Meals Coalition, which is set to launch in 202
  • The Accelerator aims to support low- and lower-middle-income countries in scaling up and strengthening their national school meal programs. This initiative is a response to the increasing demand from governments for strategic, high-quality technical assistance that ensures long-term sustainability. The Accelerator builds on the momentum of the Coalition, which has successfully mobilized over 110 countries and 140 partners around the school meals agenda, with more than 60 countries making formal national commitments. The Accelerator is hosted by the World Food Programme (WFP) and is supported by a diverse network of partners, focusing on enhancing national design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, partnership alignment, and learning and knowledge sharing. Its overarching goal is to unlock the full potential of school meal programs, aiming to reach an additional 100 million children by 2030 with healthy and nutritious meals in schools. Job Overview:
The Enterprise Solutions & Data Architect will be a key member of the Accelerator's central structure, responsible for designing and operationalizing an integrated digital, data, and learning ecosystem. This role is crucial for enabling the Accelerator to learn, adapt, and evolve over time while supporting its processes, country engagements, and partnerships. The Architect will be tasked with creating a robust, interoperable data and solution architecture that captures and structures all relevant Accelerator information, including operational inputs, technical data, partnership interactions, and learning insights. The position requires ensuring seamless interoperability across IT solutions that support Accelerator workflows and feedback loops. Additionally, the Architect will enable the responsible use of data and AI-driven tools to generate insights for strategic decision-making, reflective practice, and continuous adaptation. The role also involves leading capacity-building efforts to ensure that Accelerator staff can sustainably operate and evolve the introduced systems and processes while embedding learning into their daily work. This position is designed to foster systems thinking, resilience, and long-term sustainability across the Accelerator's digital foundations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Enterprise Solutions & Data Architect include:
  • Enterprise & Solution Architecture: Translating the Accelerator's business processes, country engagement models, and partnership workflows into coherent end-to-end solution architectures. Defining reference architectures, integration patterns, and data flows to ensure interoperability across Accelerator systems and partner platforms. Maintaining architectural coherence as the Accelerator scales across countries and partners.
  • Cloud Architecture & Platform Enablement: Designing and guiding the implementation of secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud architectures, primarily leveraging AWS. Promoting the adoption of cloud best practices aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Data, Analytics & AI Enablement: Designing and overseeing a data infrastructure that consolidates information flows across Accelerator processes and enables analytics and reporting. Supporting the integration of AI-enabled tools and analytics to enhance decision-making.
  • Infrastructure, DevOps & Operational Readiness: Guiding the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches for reusable and maintainable infrastructure. Contributing to operational readiness, including monitoring, logging, and high-availability design.
  • Capacity Building, Documentation & Enablement: Developing and delivering a structured capacity-building program for Accelerator staff, including training materials and workshops. Maintaining architectural decision records and technical documentation to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Enterprise Solutions & Data Architect position include an advanced university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant experience may be considered. Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional or security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Specialty, are strongly desirable. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, cloud platforms, or data/analytics engineering. A proven track record of designing and delivering complex, production-grade digital solutions is essential, along with experience in multi-stakeholder, international, public-sector, or development contexts.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have an advanced university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. A first university degree with additional years of relevant experience may also be acceptable. Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Security Specialty, are strongly desirable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, cloud platforms, or data/analytics engineering. Candidates should have a proven track record of designing and delivering complex, production-grade digital solutions. Experience working in multi-stakeholder, international, public-sector, or development contexts is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory, along with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) or Portuguese, which is one of WFP’s working languages. This bilingual capability is considered desirable for the role.
