Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Translator/Interpreter include:
Providing accurate and timely translation services for documents and verbal communications between English, Russian, and Uzbek.
Participating in various meetings, conferences, and events, both online and in-person, to facilitate communication among stakeholders.
Demonstrating a strong understanding of cultural nuances and sensitivities in translations to ensure effective communication.
Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and communications.
Collaborating with the RCO team to support strategic planning, economic partnerships, data management, and advocacy efforts related to the UN's work in Uzbekistan.
Ensuring that all translations meet the UN's standards for quality and accuracy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Foreign (English) languages from a recognized institution or equivalent qualifications obtained through formal language training courses. Additionally, relevant practical experience of at least 5 years as a translator, specifically in English to Russian and Uzbek languages, is required. Strong communication skills and a good understanding of cultural aspects are essential for this role.
Educational Background: A university degree in Foreign (English) languages or a related field is mandatory. Candidates with qualifications from recognized institutions or those who have completed formal language training courses will be considered. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in language skills necessary for translation and interpretation tasks.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant practical experience as a translator is required. This experience should include translating between English and Russian or Uzbek languages, demonstrating proficiency in both written and spoken forms.
