Job Overview: The Human Resources Officer position at WFP is designed to provide professional support for customer-focused HR service delivery. The officer will partner with managers to implement HR solutions that align with WFP's corporate priorities. This role involves the collation, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of HR information to maximize the effectiveness of HR services. The HR Officer will ensure compliance with WFP rules and procedures, delivering high-quality HR services such as recruitment, contract management, and performance management. The position requires a proactive approach to addressing complex HR issues and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment for all employees.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for a variety of key accountabilities, including supporting HR operational activities aligned with business needs, responding to queries from managers and staff, administering conditions of service and contracts, and supporting staff capability building. The officer will also deliver onboarding activities to ensure new employees have a positive experience, assist in talent management, and contribute to organizational design activities. Additionally, the HR Officer will collate data for accurate reporting, conduct data analysis under guidance, and support various HR projects as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of HR best practices, techniques, and processes, along with the ability to support less experienced team members. The role requires basic analytical skills for compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and drawing conclusions. Good communication skills are essential for effective interaction with a diverse range of individuals. Familiarity with UN/WFP specific processes and systems is also beneficial.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience or training may be acceptable.
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in Human Resources, particularly with an interest in international humanitarian development. Experience in providing administrative and systems support across various HR functions, including recruitment, training, and performance management, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory, along with intermediate knowledge of English (level B). Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The role is based in Lomé, Togo, and reports directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director.
