Job Overview: The position of Technical Writer for the 2gether 4 SRHR program involves developing a range of knowledge products that are essential for promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating policy briefs, toolkits, case studies, and other documentation that will serve to inform and educate various stakeholders about best practices and emerging trends in SRHR. Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Writer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: participating in a writers workshop to align with the program team on the knowledge products to be developed; creating an inception report that outlines the project scope, methodologies, and timelines; proposing outlines and structures for the knowledge products; gathering data through desktop reviews and interviews; writing and editing the knowledge products according to established guidelines; facilitating regular planning calls with the internal team; and participating in debrief meetings to reflect on the project outcomes. The writer will also be responsible for ensuring that all products adhere to the editorial standards set by the 2gether 4 SRHR program and the UN.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Writing, Journalism, Communication, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant writing experience specifically linked to sexual and reproductive health and rights or a related field within the Eastern and Southern Africa context. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of producing user-friendly knowledge products, demonstrating strong analytical and synthesis skills. Additionally, candidates should exhibit excellent planning and organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure. Experience working in multicultural environments and previous writing or editing experience with UN agencies is highly desirable.
