ESCWA's Technology Centre (ETC) plays a crucial role in this mission by leading initiatives aimed at the digital transformation of micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Job Overview:
The Data Analysis & Web Development Assistant will play a vital role in supporting MSME-focused programmes and digital platforms under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director of the ESCWA Technology Centre. This position involves a combination of data management, web development, and technical support aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation across the Arab region. The assistant will be responsible for various tasks, including data analysis, dashboard development, web interface maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role is designed to contribute to the overall mission of ESCWA by facilitating digital engagement and supporting the implementation of key initiatives such as the Regional Training Programme on Green Technologies & Business Models, the Arab SMEs Summit, and other related projects. The assistant will work remotely for an expected duration of six months, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data Analysis, Insights, and Reporting: The assistant will collect, clean, validate, and analyze data from various ETC platforms and programme activities using SQL, Excel, Python, and R. They will produce analytical reports and performance indicators to support programme monitoring and strategic decision-making.
  • Dashboard Development and Business Intelligence: The role includes supporting the design and maintenance of interactive dashboards using Tableau and Power BI, integrating data from MySQL databases and API endpoints to visualize programme performance and user engagement.
  • Web Development and Front-End Integration: The assistant will support the development of web interfaces using Angular 18, ensuring integration with backend services developed in NestJS 11, focusing on user experience and data presentation.
  • Backend Data Services and API Support: Responsibilities include supporting backend services built on NestJS, focusing on RESTful API design and data access layers, as well as testing and documenting APIs.
  • Data Pipelines, Quality Assurance, and Troubleshooting: The assistant will monitor data pipelines, identify inconsistencies, and support troubleshooting efforts to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Visualization, UI, and Digital Content Development: The role involves creating data-driven visualizations and web components using tools like Tableau and D3.js, ensuring user-friendly presentation of analytical outputs.
  • Platform Analytics, Digital Engagement, and Email Campaigns: The assistant will support analytics for ETC digital platforms and assist in developing HTML/CSS-based email campaigns, monitoring engagement metrics, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in data analysis and web development is required. This includes experience with SQL databases, data cleaning, validation, and reporting using tools such as Excel, Python, or R. Additionally, candidates should have experience in supporting web applications, integrating RESTful APIs, and troubleshooting data integration issues. Familiarity with front-end frameworks and responsive UI design principles is desirable, as is experience in developing interactive dashboards or data visualizations using Power BI or Tableau.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems is required for this position. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in data analysis and web development. Candidates should have hands-on experience with SQL-based databases, data cleaning, validation, and reporting. Additionally, experience in supporting web applications and troubleshooting data integration issues is essential. Familiarity with front-end frameworks and experience in developing interactive dashboards or data visualizations is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, as these are the working languages of ESCWA. Candidates must demonstrate fluency in all four areas of language proficiency: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory.
