Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the ASYCUDA Programme, which aims to improve customs operations and facilitate trade in the Caribbean and Latin America. The incumbent will assist in the coordination of program/project planning and preparation, ensuring that all relevant documentation is monitored and processed efficiently. This position requires a proactive approach to compiling and summarizing data on specific programs and related issues, as well as reviewing project documents for compliance with established rules and procedures. The Programme Assistant will also serve as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with various organizational units to facilitate the implementation of program activities. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Assistant include: assisting in the coordination of program/project planning and preparation; monitoring the status of program/project proposals; compiling and summarizing information/data on specific programs; reviewing project documents for completeness and compliance; serving as a focal point for administrative coordination; compiling and entering data on project delivery; drafting correspondence and reports; providing general office assistance; responding to complex information requests; maintaining files and records; organizing meetings and workshops; providing guidance to new/junior staff; assisting with data collection and analysis; and performing other duties as assigned. The role requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while ensuring that all actions align with the organization's goals and standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree or higher can reduce the minimum required experience. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related area. Candidates with a first-level university degree may qualify with 3 years of relevant experience. Additionally, experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable, as is experience working in an automated customs environment or supporting UN technical cooperation programs. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher are preferred, as this can reduce the required years of experience. The educational qualifications should ideally align with the responsibilities of program/project administration and technical cooperation.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in program or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related area. For candidates with a first-level university degree or higher, the minimum experience requirement is reduced to 3 years. Additionally, having at least 1 year of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable, as well as experience in an automated customs environment or with UN technical cooperation programs.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in English is required, with a minimum level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Proficiency in Spanish is also required, with a minimum level of UN Level III in all language skills. This position is a project-funded temporary role, initially available for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project continuation, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
