Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Registration Assistant include conducting registration interviews in accordance with local standard operating procedures (SOPs) and registration standards. The incumbent will respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements. It is essential to maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data related to all individual registration cases. The Registration Assistant will identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referrals for protection follow-up as required. Collaboration with protection staff and partners in delivering assistance and programming is crucial, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The role may also involve acting as an interpreter and translator when necessary, referring cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as needed. Additionally, the Registration Assistant will support the identification and management of risks, ensuring decision-making is informed by risk assessments in their area of responsibility, and will raise any risks, issues, or concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education. Essential qualifications include knowledge of social sciences, statistics, mathematics, and information technology. The candidate must possess strong IT and computer literacy skills, as these are critical for managing data and records effectively.
