The Heating, Ventilation and A/C Technician (HVAC) position is crucial for maintaining the HVAC systems within the UN complex. The incumbent will be responsible for servicing and overhauling pneumatic controls, steam valves, and other HVAC-related equipment. Daily inspections of temperature and humidity controls in conference rooms and other areas will be part of the job, ensuring optimal air flow and comfort. The technician will also address climate control complaints, making necessary adjustments and repairs. This role requires a commitment to learning, as the technician will work towards obtaining a Chiller Operator license, which is essential for operating the Chiller Plant. Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of duties under the direction of the Foreman of the HVAC Shop, including: maintaining HVAC systems by servicing pneumatic controls and steam valves; repairing bearings and shafts; removing defective equipment; installing and testing new equipment; conducting daily inspections of temperature and humidity controls; making adjustments to ensure adequate air flow; replacing filters, belts, and angle valves; investigating climate control complaints; making necessary adjustments and repairs; and learning the operation of the Chiller Plant. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Foreman as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a Trade School diploma. A valid EPA Universal Refrigerant License is required, while possession of an FDNY Q-01 Chiller Plant Operator's license and OSHA Construction Safety certification are desirable. Knowledge in HVAC systems and equipment, as well as skills in using hand and power tools, are essential. The ability to read blueprints and rough drawings is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, and a Trade School diploma is required. The position also necessitates specific job-related qualifications, such as an EPA Universal Refrigerant License. Additional certifications, such as an FDNY Q-01 Chiller Plant Operator's license and OSHA Construction Safety certification, are preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the HVAC trade is required. However, this experience requirement can be waived for applicants who hold an FDNY Q-01 Operating Engineer Certification, indicating a higher level of qualification and expertise in the field.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a requirement of UN Level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, but there are no additional desirable languages specified for this job opening.
