Job Overview: The Protection Officer-Case Management (CM) will operate under the technical supervision of the Protection Team Leader and with inputs from the Protection Manager. This role is crucial for implementing DRC's case management activities in accordance with established Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs). The officer will be responsible for providing timely and appropriate case management services, assessing the needs of individuals with protection concerns, and developing tailored case management plans. The role also involves ensuring follow-up and creating a supportive environment for clients. The Protection Officer-CM will assist at-risk individuals with referrals and will actively monitor and report on emerging trends of violations within communities. Additionally, the officer will provide psychological first aid to individuals in distress and collaborate closely with various teams within DRC to promote integrated support services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Protection Officer-CM will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: providing direct client services within the case management program, managing a designated number of routine and complex cases according to DRC standards, conducting intake interviews, performing protection risk assessments, developing tailored case plans, and providing continuous emotional support to clients. The officer will also be responsible for managing case closures, conducting timely referrals, supporting service mapping, preparing procurement documents, maintaining professional conduct, consulting with supervisors on complex cases, entering data accurately into the case management system, assisting in training new staff, participating in case conferences, and monitoring protection concerns through interviews in target locations. The officer will also be expected to report any new protection risks and actively participate in team meetings.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a commitment to protecting human rights and have 1-2 years of experience in protection case management with INGOs, NGOs, or the UN. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and effective time management. A high level of professionalism and integrity is essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience in conducting qualitative interviews and familiarity with data management tools like KOBO is preferred. Candidates should also have good communication skills in English, Dari, and Pashto, and a willingness to travel to field locations as required.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a degree from a well-recognized university in relevant fields such as law, political sciences, research methods, social work, psychology, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of protection case management and the legal frameworks surrounding human rights.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 1-2 years of relevant experience in protection case management, preferably with international organizations. Candidates should be adept at handling multiple tasks and demonstrate problem-solving abilities. Experience in managing data and familiarity with online data collection tools is also advantageous. The ability to work independently and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in Dari and Pashto is mandatory, along with a working level of English. These language skills are essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders in the field, ensuring that the officer can provide the necessary support and services to those in need.
