Job Overview: The EBRD Azerbaijan Team is seeking a professional analyst to join their successful team in Baku. The analyst will report to the Associate Director, Head of Azerbaijan, and will play a crucial role in all phases of the project cycle. This includes project origination, structuring, negotiations, execution, and implementation and monitoring. The analyst will be responsible for tasks assigned by the operation leader or senior project team members, which may involve comprehensive due diligence, including financial, market, and integrity assessments, as well as ensuring compliance with EBRD policies. The role also entails effective post-signing implementation and monitoring, legal analysis, and documentation, all carried out under the guidance of more experienced bankers.
Duties and Responsibilities: The analyst will work as part of a project team on transactions, contributing to project structuring and execution. This includes conducting comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data. The analyst will analyze and evaluate potential risks related to proposed projects, prepare and update financial models and projections, and collaborate with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to advance projects. Additionally, the analyst will assist in designing and processing technical cooperation assistance, prepare internal project documentation, and communicate with internal units, clients, and stakeholders. The analyst will also undertake tasks related to the implementation and monitoring of projects, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures, and preparing monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and develop financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, understanding local and international accounting principles, and be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and financial analysis software. Excellent teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, economics, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, preferably from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm that operates to international standards. Experience in project finance and corporate finance is essential, along with practical experience in participating in transactions throughout the full project life cycle. Familiarity with the Azerbaijan market is preferred but not mandatory.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.
