Job Overview: The EBRD Azerbaijan Team is seeking a dedicated and skilled Analyst to join their successful team in Baku. The Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the project cycle, which encompasses project origination, structuring, negotiations, execution, and monitoring. This position requires a proactive individual who can take on responsibilities assigned by the operation leader or senior bankers, including conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and facilitating effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The Analyst will also be involved in legal analysis and documentation, working collaboratively within a project team under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for various tasks under the guidance of the operation leader or a senior banker. Key responsibilities include:
Structuring and Execution: Collaborate as a project team member on transactions, contributing to project structuring and execution. This involves conducting thorough research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data. The Analyst will evaluate potential risks associated with proposed projects, analyze financial statements, prepare and update financial models, and work closely with clients and consultants to advance projects.
Technical Cooperation Assistance: Assist in designing and processing technical cooperation assistance, including preparing terms of reference and internal approval documentation to align with the approval schedule for related investment projects or policy dialogue initiatives.
Internal Documentation: Prepare internal project documentation, including drafts of approval project memoranda, financial models, draft term sheets, and presentations as required.
Communication: Facilitate communication with internal units of the Bank, clients, and stakeholders by preparing draft correspondence and presentations, and following up on internal communications.
Portfolio Monitoring: Undertake assigned tasks related to the implementation and monitoring of projects, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures. This includes monitoring project progress, assessing risk factors, and preparing comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
Technical Cooperation Assignments: Assist with the effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments, including communication with TC clients and preparation of relevant progress and completion reports. The Analyst's responsibilities are designed to progressively increase in complexity, allowing for the development of transaction expertise and expanded responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and develop financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, understanding local and international accounting principles, and be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required, along with a good command of the Turkish language.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum qualification, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant areas. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the financial industry is required. This experience should be gained from working in investment or commercial banks, private equity firms, asset management firms, or auditing/financial consulting firms that operate to international standards. Candidates should have practical experience participating in transactions throughout the full project life cycle, and exposure to the Azerbaijan market is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. A good command of the Turkish language, both oral and written, is also required, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and clients.
