Job Overview:
The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Field Office for North Area and receive overall technical guidance from the Country Office Chief of Social and Behavior Change. The primary function of this role is to facilitate the quality implementation of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) contributions in the MCCT+ program and the overall UNICEF Sudan crisis response plan for River Nile and Northern States. The consultant will provide tailored SBC support to UNICEF MCCT+ program cycles, design and develop outreach campaigns, and implement the Social and Behavior Change Strategy and Social Risk Management Framework. The role also involves designing, planning, and implementing SBC activities backed by social and behavioral evidence, focusing on community engagement and essential family practices. The consultant will support community interventions, provide technical guidance and training to health promoters and community leaders, and generate research and data to inform SBC programs. Additionally, the consultant will document and report on SBC outcomes and support the implementation and monitoring of SBC-related activities with partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include providing tailored SBC support to the MCCT+ program, designing and implementing outreach campaigns, and ensuring the integration of SBC messaging for child care. The consultant will conduct technical training for health promoters and community leaders, support community engagement activities, and address health emergencies. Responsibilities also include generating and utilizing research data for SBC program design and monitoring, documenting and reporting on SBC outcomes, and ensuring alignment with approved SBC plans and budgets. The consultant will track progress, address implementation gaps, and contribute to donor and internal reports on SBC outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in social, behavioral, or communication sciences, along with relevant certified training in behavioral and social communication. A minimum of three years of professional experience in SBC or related program planning and management is required, preferably in a developing country. Experience in emergency settings is essential, and relevant experience in SBCC and community engagement for immunization is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel, is required.

Educational Background:
A degree in social, behavioral, or communication sciences is mandatory, along with relevant certified training in behavioral and social communication. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of social and behavior change in the context of UNICEF's programs.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in SBC or related technical areas, with a focus on program planning and management at national or international levels. Experience in emergency settings is a prerequisite, and familiarity with SBCC and community engagement for immunization is advantageous. Candidates should have a proven track record of working independently and effectively in diverse environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required, with Sudanese Arabic capability considered an asset. Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for effective engagement with diverse communities and stakeholders.
