Job Overview:
The International UNV Communication Officer will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and producing multimedia content that aligns with UNDP Djibouti's strategic priorities. This position involves creating visually appealing and platform-optimized content for various digital campaigns, ensuring that the UNDP Djibouti website is regularly updated with relevant information, and maintaining an annual event calendar. The officer will be responsible for developing compelling storylines and scripts for videos, managing the post-production process, and creating engaging content tailored for youth platforms. Additionally, the officer will lead the organization of public events from a communication perspective and coordinate with various content implementers to ensure high-quality outputs. The role requires exploring innovative digital tools to enhance creativity and efficiency in content creation, as well as actively participating in relevant groups and ensuring content clearance with supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the International UNV Communication Officer include:
  • Conceptualizing, designing, and producing multimedia content for local and global digital campaigns.
  • Keeping the UNDP Djibouti website updated with ongoing relevant communication.
  • Maintaining the UNDP annual event calendar.
  • Developing storylines and scripts for videos, managing the full post-production process, and ensuring alignment with UNDP guidelines.
  • Creating and editing video content to highlight human interest stories and UNDP programs.
  • Tailoring content for youth platforms and leveraging social media trends.
  • Leading the writing of creative concepts and presenting themes to national and international partners.
  • Collecting photos and videos from field visits for real-time social media coverage.
  • Organizing UNDP public events from a communication perspective. 1
  • Coordinating with graphic designers, video editors, and photographers to ensure brand consistency. 1
  • Exploring innovative digital tools to enhance content creation. 1
  • Writing the UNDP annual report and other design assignments. 1
  • Participating in UNCG and UN Partnership groups as the communication focal point. 1
  • Supervising the National Communication Assistant. 1
  • Assisting with any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong background in communication, multimedia content creation, and marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing. Candidates should possess excellent writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to develop compelling narratives and scripts. Familiarity with various digital platforms and tools for content creation is essential, along with experience in managing social media campaigns. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are also necessary to ensure high-quality outputs.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a degree in communication, media studies, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not mandatory. Additional certifications in digital marketing or multimedia production would be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in communication, multimedia content creation, or digital marketing. Experience working with international organizations or in a development context is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing communication projects and campaigns.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in French is highly desirable. Knowledge of Arabic, Somali, or Afar would be considered an asset, as these languages are spoken by the local population.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role under the UNV program, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The position is based in Djibouti, and candidates should be prepared for the living conditions described, including limited banking services and transportation options. The role may involve occasional travel within the country for field visits and events.
