Job Overview: The City Innovation Visualization Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting local governments worldwide in their efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The consultant's primary responsibility will be to create data visualizations, communication products, and case studies that highlight the impact of SDG implementation. This work is essential for generating knowledge and replicating successful experiences that can be showcased during global events organized by the local government constituency in 202
The consultant will work closely with local government officials and stakeholders to ensure that the visualizations and products effectively communicate the progress and challenges faced in implementing the Agenda 2030 at the local level. The assignment is expected to run from March 2026 to December 2026, during which the consultant will need to engage with various stakeholders and produce high-quality outputs that meet the expectations of UNDP and the local governments involved.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Collaborate with local government officials to identify key areas of impact related to SDG implementation.
Develop and design data visualizations that effectively communicate complex information in an accessible manner.
Create communication products, including reports, infographics, and presentations, that showcase successful case studies and best practices in SDG implementation.
Conduct research and gather data from various sources to support the development of visualizations and communication products.
Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure that the products meet their needs and expectations.
Present findings and visualizations at global events and workshops organized by the local government constituency.
Ensure that all outputs are delivered on time and adhere to UNDP's quality standards.
Provide training and support to local government officials on how to use the visualizations and communication products effectively.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and local government processes.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Proficiency in data visualization tools and software, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Experience working with local governments or international organizations is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as graphic design, data science, public policy, or international development is required. A master's degree in a related field is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in data visualization, graphic design, or a related field. Experience working with local governments or international organizations on SDG-related projects is highly desirable. The consultant should also have a track record of producing high-quality visualizations and communication products that effectively convey complex information.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in the regions where the consultant will work, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.
