Job Overview:
The position of Voluntario/a de las Naciones Unidas involves supporting UNICEF's Emergency Section in Venezuela, specifically in the implementation of emergency preparedness interventions and disaster risk reduction strategies in prioritized municipalities of the Zulia state. The volunteer will work closely under the supervision of the Emergency Section, contributing to building resilient systems and promoting disaster risk reduction. The role requires effective teamwork and professional support to ensure that emergency preparedness strategies are integrated into local plans, enhancing the capacity of communities to respond to emergencies and reduce risks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: supporting the implementation of emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction strategies in prioritized municipalities; organizing workshops and technical meetings to strengthen local capacities; ensuring field presence for monitoring and implementation of emergency preparedness activities; addressing operational and administrative bottlenecks; analyzing information sources regarding natural and human threats; maintaining effective communication for emergency preparedness actions; reviewing and supporting the development of municipal emergency plans; implementing specific preparedness actions; organizing community training sessions; coordinating local emergency response activities; and documenting lessons learned for future improvements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to UNICEF's mission. They should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in dynamic environments, as well as a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism. Cultural sensitivity and community engagement skills are essential, particularly when working with indigenous populations and local authorities.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, education, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in emergency management, disaster risk reduction, or humanitarian response are advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in emergency response, disaster risk reduction, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context in Venezuela and previous work with vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the region. Proficiency in English is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Maracaibo, Venezuela, with regular travel to prioritized municipalities. The volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance of 1299 USD, along with pre-assignment and end-of-assignment allowances, provided that conditions are met. Medical, dental, and life insurance will be provided, along with disability coverage. The volunteer is expected to adapt to local living conditions, which may differ significantly from their place of origin, and should be prepared for challenges related to transportation, telecommunications, and access to basic services.
