Job Overview:
The Safety & Wellness Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing programs that support vulnerable individuals, including victims of trafficking, crime, and humanitarian immigrants in the DMV region. This position is designed to empower these individuals to achieve self-reliance and overcome various barriers. The SW Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of staff, providing guidance, and ensuring the implementation of best practices in social work. The role also involves direct client services during crisis situations, supporting assigned caseworkers, and addressing short-term counseling needs. Additionally, the SW Supervisor coordinates services for vulnerable clients across different departments and external partners, ensuring comprehensive, culturally responsive care while contributing to quality assurance and advocacy efforts. Compliance with grants and social work standards is essential, as is building partnerships and representing IRC in local coalitions related to safety and wellness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Safety & Wellness Supervisor include:
  • Supervision & Team Leadership: - Provide direct supervision to staff through regular individual supervision, team meetings, and coaching. - Train and oversee team members in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards. - Ensure staff are trained in core competencies, trauma-informed practices, and crisis protocols. - Support staff in addressing complex client situations and maintain close communication with other teams regarding complex cases. - Monitor program implementation, identify emerging needs, and communicate issues to management. - Assist the program manager with data collection, reporting, strategic planning, and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design. - Adapt supervision responsibilities as the department evolves.
  • Direct Service & Client Support: - Provide psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health support during urgent situations until appropriate referrals are secured. - Offer guidance on comprehensive, culturally responsive, and client-centered care. - Advocate for client needs and support pathways towards self-sufficiency and overall well-being. - Provide direct services to clients in the absence of the assigned staff member.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: - Ensure compliance with all funders, agency, and programmatic requirements, including case documentation, data tracking, and administrative procedures. - Conduct regular case file reviews to ensure program quality and adherence to standards.
  • Partnerships & Community Engagement: - Serve as the primary contact point for community partners, maintaining and expanding collaborative relationships that enhance client access to services. - Maintain a resource guide of community support and resources. - Attend local forums and initiatives; collaborate with the anti-trafficking coordinator to draft, co-lead, and deliver anti-trafficking presentations and training in the community.
  • Other Duties: - Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Safety & Wellness Supervisor position include: - Education: A Master of Social Work from an accredited university is required, with Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) status in the state of Maryland strongly preferred. - Work Experience: - 3-5 years of professional experience in casework or human services, particularly in supporting vulnerable individuals to improve their safety and wellbeing. - 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred. - Experience providing counseling, crisis intervention, psychosocial, and/or mental health support is essential. - Experience working with victims of crime, trafficking, refugee, and/or immigrant populations is strongly preferred. - Knowledge of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and related policies is strongly preferred. - Familiarity with legal providers, social services, public benefits, community organizations, and healthcare systems in the DMV area is preferred. - Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master of Social Work from an accredited university. Additionally, having a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) status in the state of Maryland is strongly preferred, indicating a recognized level of professional competence in social work practice.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the Safety & Wellness Supervisor position includes 3-5 years of professional experience in casework or human services, with a focus on supporting vulnerable individuals. Supervisory experience of at least 2 years is preferred, along with experience in providing counseling, crisis intervention, and psychosocial support. Familiarity with working with victims of crime, trafficking, and immigrant populations is strongly preferred, as is knowledge of relevant legal and social service frameworks.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred, as it would enhance the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client base and provide culturally responsive services.
