Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Local Schools Renovation Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting thorough assessments of the current conditions of schools in the Surkhandarya region to identify renovation needs.
Developing comprehensive renovation plans that address the identified needs while ensuring compliance with UNDP standards.
Coordinating with local authorities, school administrations, and other stakeholders to facilitate the renovation process.
Providing technical expertise and guidance during the renovation works to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.
Monitoring the progress of renovation projects and preparing regular reports on the status of the works.
Ensuring that all renovation activities are conducted in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Engaging with the community to gather feedback and ensure that the renovations meet the needs of students and teachers.
Assisting in the procurement process for materials and services required for the renovations.
Documenting lessons learned and best practices throughout the renovation process for future reference.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Local Schools Renovation Consultant position should possess the following qualifications:
Proven experience in project management, particularly in construction or renovation projects.
Strong understanding of educational infrastructure and the specific needs of schools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during the renovation process.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, project management, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be considered an asset. Additional certifications in project management or construction management would also be beneficial.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, particularly in the field of construction or renovation. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, especially in educational projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context in Uzbekistan and previous experience in the Surkhandarya region would be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Uzbek or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and authorities. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset.

The consultant will be required to submit proposals through the UNDP supplier portal, and any inquiries for clarification must be made in writing via the portal's messaging functionality. The consultant will work closely with the UNDP Procurement Unit and must adhere to all procurement guidelines and procedures. The role is full-time and requires a commitment to the project timeline.
