Job Overview: The Protection and MHPSS Assistant will play a crucial role in the implementation of protection and mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities. This position requires a proactive approach to assist in the registration and re-registration of migrants without status, ensuring their day-to-day operations are managed effectively. The assistant will monitor and contribute to the screening of migrants, ensuring ethical referrals for those in vulnerable situations. The role also involves case management, service mapping, and community engagement to promote psychosocial well-being among migrants. The assistant will work closely with various teams to ensure that the needs of vulnerable migrants are identified and addressed, and will participate in relevant sector meetings to coordinate efforts effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the timely implementation of Protection and MHPSS activities as outlined in project plans.
Facilitate the registration and re-registration processes for migrants without status.
Observe and monitor the screening of migrants, ensuring ethical referrals for vulnerable individuals.
Participate in case management, ensuring that vulnerable cases are managed and reported in a timely manner.
Conduct regular service mapping and participatory assessments to identify gaps in service provision.
Provide support to Protection MHPSS focal points in the field.
Coordinate with CCCM teams to ensure daily screenings of vulnerable migrants are conducted.
Identify needs and gaps in service provision and report deviations from referral pathways.
Disseminate community messages related to psychosocial well-being. 1
Share regular reports on Protection and MHPSS activities with the Area Coordination Assistant. 1
Participate in sector meetings and working groups at the camp level. 1
Assist the Protection and MHPSS Coordinator with additional duties as assigned. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in social work, psychology, or related fields. A minimum of two years of professional experience in social work or assistance to vulnerable populations is required. Alternatively, candidates with a completed High School degree and four years of relevant experience will also be considered. Proficiency in computer applications and good written and spoken communication skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, loyalty, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. A valid driving license is also required for this position.
Educational Background: Candidates should have completed studies in related fields such as social studies, psychology, social work, anthropology, political science, international relations, or development studies. Accredited universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database are preferred. Alternatively, a completed High School degree from an accredited institution with relevant professional experience is acceptable.
Experience: Candidates should have work experience in social work, assistance to vulnerable populations, or case management scenarios. Experience working with foreign nationals, irregular migrants, trafficked persons, children, and other vulnerable populations is highly desirable. Familiarity with counselling, networking, and ensuring access to services is also important. A solid understanding of ethical practices and rights-based approaches is crucial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English and one of the three official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian) is mandatory, both orally and in writing. Desirable additional languages include Arabic, Farsi, Kurdish, Pashto, Urdu, Dari, Punjabi, and Turkish. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
