Job Overview: The Project Assistant MHA position is crucial for supporting the IOM's health-related activities in Una Sana Canton, particularly in the Temporary Reception Centre Lipa. The Project Assistant will be responsible for retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information on specific project topics, which is vital for informed decision-making. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant MHA include:
Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health-related project activities in Una Sana Canton.
Providing administrative support to healthcare partners in the Temporary Reception Centre Lipa.
Retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics.
Monitoring the project budget, verifying the availability of funds, and obtaining necessary approvals.
Supporting the administrative coordination of project implementation, including liaising with various organizational units and external parties.
Drafting status reports and identifying shortfalls in project delivery.
Preparing correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and presentations.
Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
Responding to general information requests and inquiries. 1
Setting up and maintaining files and records. 1
Performing other related duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and guidelines, particularly regarding confidentiality and data protection.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Assistant MHA position include:
A school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Knowledge of EU funding related reporting requirements is also an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields. The educational institution must be accredited, as recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant professional experience, specifically two years for those with a Bachelor’s degree or four years for those with a school diploma. Experience should include liaising with governmental authorities and working with vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees. Familiarity with international humanitarian organizations and multi-cultural environments is highly valued, as is knowledge of EU funding reporting requirements.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in one of the three official languages spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina is required. The IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and candidates will be evaluated on their language proficiency during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Bosnia and Herzegovina will be considered. Any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon funding confirmation. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months. Candidates must be medically fit for appointment, and their residency, visa, and other authorizations will be verified as applicable.
