Job Overview: The role of the Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Facilitator is crucial in providing education to returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities about the dangers posed by explosive ordnance. The primary objective is to raise awareness and promote behavioral changes that will reduce the risk of injury from mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW). The facilitator will conduct training sessions in various villages within the Gulran district, adhering to established EORE Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and collaborating closely with the EORE Officer/Supervisor. This position requires the facilitator to prepare training materials, arrange training facilities, and effectively communicate the content of EORE sessions, including the use of short educational films. The facilitator will also evaluate participants' understanding of the risks associated with mines and ERW, maintain records of EORE activities, and report progress to the EORE Officer/Supervisor. Additionally, the facilitator will be responsible for reporting any incidents related to explosive ordnance to the relevant authorities and ensuring effective communication with team members and local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the EORE Facilitator include: conducting EORE training sessions in various villages of the Gulran district in accordance with EORE SOPs; preparing and arranging training facilities prior to sessions; managing the condition and distribution of training materials; explaining the objectives of EORE films to trainees; providing education in communities affected by explosive ordnance; conducting sessions in both Pashto and Dari; evaluating participants' understanding of the dangers associated with mines and ERW; keeping detailed records of daily, weekly, and monthly EORE activities; reporting progress to the EORE Officer/Supervisor; notifying DMAC RO of any newly discovered explosive ordnance incidents; collecting and compiling UXO hotline information during community visits; ensuring good communication and coordination with team members and local communities; following the DRC operational work plan; briefing visitors and internal/external QA on EORE activities; and performing any other tasks assigned by the team leader.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications: a minimum of 1 year of experience in Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE); strong liaison and communication skills; and a high school education. Candidates should also demonstrate a good understanding of the risks associated with explosive ordnance and the ability to effectively communicate this information to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the EORE Facilitator position includes a high school diploma. This foundational education is essential for understanding the complexities of explosive ordnance and effectively delivering training sessions to various community members.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1 year of relevant experience in Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE). This experience should include direct engagement with communities affected by explosive ordnance, as well as familiarity with training methodologies and community outreach strategies. The ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to the needs of diverse populations is also crucial.
Languages: Fluency in Pashto and Dari is mandatory for this position, as the EORE sessions will be conducted in these languages. Proficiency in English is preferred, as it may facilitate communication with international staff and stakeholders. Additionally, basic computer skills are preferred to assist with reporting and documentation tasks.
