Job Overview:
The Technical Officer position is crucial for the management of EpiC Nepal’s Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and nutrition project activities. The role involves ensuring quality and effective implementation of project activities through collaboration with implementing partner agencies (IPs) and various stakeholders, including provincial and district-level government authorities. The Technical Officer will be responsible for capacity strengthening of IPs in technical areas, data management, and ensuring that project activities align with local needs and priorities. This position requires a proactive approach to managing multiple tasks and working under pressure, as well as the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with various teams and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Officer will manage, supervise, and monitor project activities in designated districts, working closely with IPs to contextualize and implement technical strategies. Key responsibilities include designing and developing sub-agreements, conducting regular monitoring, providing technical support to IPs, preparing supervision plans, and conducting coaching and mentoring sessions. The officer will assist IPs in performance assessment, support data analysis for program quality, conduct periodic review meetings, and ensure compliance with data safety requirements. Additionally, the Technical Officer will coordinate with stakeholders, manage documentation, and perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in public health or social sciences with at least three years of experience in health-related program implementation and management, or a Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant experience. Experience in nutrition and MNCH-related services is preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive and independent approach to work, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks effectively. Familiarity with virtual work environments and flexibility in managing time across different teams is essential.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in public health or social sciences is required, although a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields may be acceptable if accompanied by sufficient relevant experience. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in health program management and implementation, particularly in areas related to maternal and child health and nutrition.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in health-related program implementation and management for candidates with a Master’s degree, or five years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in nutrition and MNCH services is highly desirable, and candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to their work, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Nepali is mandatory, as the role involves extensive documentation and communication with various stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
