Job Overview: The position of National Consultant for STEAM Integration Model at UNICEF Moldova focuses on developing and piloting a structured, scalable, and replicable model for integrated STEAM education in schools. The role involves developing a comprehensive guide for implementing STEAM education, conducting assessments of model schools, and providing methodological support during the piloting phase. The consultant will work closely with school management and staff to foster collaborative professional learning and innovative teaching methods, ensuring that STEAM education is effectively integrated into the curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess and identify needs in ten model schools regarding their readiness for STEAM education.
Evaluate management teams on their experience with STEAM education and innovative teaching methods.
Develop a comprehensive guide for implementing STEAM education, including self-assessment tools for schools.
Conduct training sessions for management teams and teaching staff on STEAM approaches and cross-curricular integration.
Provide ongoing methodological support to the ten model schools during the piloting phase.
Collaborate with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education to align the guide with national curriculum standards and educational priorities.
Facilitate online meetings and travel to various locations for assessments and training sessions.
Report regularly to the UNICEF Education Officer on progress and challenges encountered during the consultancy.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced academic degree in education science, policy, curriculum and instruction, or education technology.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in curriculum development for general education.
Proven expertise in innovative teaching methodologies, including project-based learning and interdisciplinary curriculum design.
Demonstrated experience working with government institutions and strong networking skills.
Relevant experience with UN Agencies is an asset.
Fluency in Romanian and working knowledge of English are required.
