Job Overview: The Project Analyst position is integral to the implementation of the Governance Programme within UNDP Maldives. The role requires individuals with strong analytical, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills to effectively manage projects and deliver results. The Project Analyst will work under the guidance of the Project Manager, providing project management and technical advisory services to ensure high-quality and timely implementation of projects. The incumbent is expected to promote a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP policies and collaborate closely with UNDP staff and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and management practices. The position demands enthusiasm, motivation, and a commitment to sustainable development in the Maldives, with a focus on achieving the objectives outlined in the Country Programme.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Analyst will lead and manage ongoing projects, ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. Key responsibilities include providing analytical services throughout the project management cycle, coordinating project planning processes, managing day-to-day outputs and activities, and ensuring alignment with UNDP policies. The role involves establishing interactive platforms for project implementation, ensuring gender equality is integrated into project activities, and maintaining relationships with other UNDP units for overall integration of project outcomes. The Project Analyst will assess the impact of project interventions, prepare reports for corporate, donor, and government stakeholders, and support operational and financial closure of projects. Additionally, the incumbent will conduct research, provide technical advice, build partnerships, and advocate for project objectives to mobilize resources. The role also includes monitoring progress, managing risks, and contributing to capacity building and knowledge sharing within the thematic area.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as Project Management, Social Science, Development, Sociology, Development Economics, International Development, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or Public Policy. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two years of qualifying experience will be considered. The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience for those with a bachelor’s degree, while applicants with a master’s degree are not required to have prior work experience. Desired qualifications include at least three years of experience in the development sector, project management, and familiarity with UNDP and Government of Maldives procedures.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) may be accepted if combined with two years of relevant experience. The educational background should align with areas such as project management, social sciences, development studies, or related fields.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a bachelor’s degree. Those with a master’s degree are not required to have prior work experience. Additional desirable experience includes at least three years in the development sector, project management, and familiarity with UNDP and Government of Maldives administrative procedures. Experience in networking and partnership development is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Dhivehi is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of other UN languages is considered desirable, enhancing communication and collaboration in a diverse environment.
