Job Overview:
The position involves providing technical assistance to develop and pilot a structured, scalable, and replicable model for integrated STEAM education in Moldova. The consultant will help schools create a future-focused learning environment that emphasizes digital maturity and STEAM capability development. The role includes developing a comprehensive guide for implementing STEAM integration, conducting assessments of model schools, and providing support during the piloting phase. The consultant will work closely with school management and staff to enhance their capabilities in STEAM education and innovative teaching methodologies, ensuring that the education system aligns with national and international standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess and identify needs in ten model schools regarding STEAM education and innovative teaching methods.
  • Develop a comprehensive guide for implementing a scalable STEAM integration model, including self-assessment tools for schools.
  • Conduct training sessions for management teams and teaching staff on STEAM approaches and innovative teaching methods.
  • Provide ongoing methodological support to schools during the piloting phase.
  • Collaborate with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education to ensure alignment with national education priorities.
  • Facilitate the development of institutional collaboration mechanisms and leadership practices to support STEAM education.
  • Report regularly to the UNICEF Education Officer on progress and challenges encountered during the consultancy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced academic degree in education science/policy, curriculum and instruction, or education technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in curriculum development for general education.
  • Proven expertise in innovative teaching methodologies, including project-based learning and interdisciplinary curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government institutions and strong networking skills.
  • Relevant experience with UN Agencies is an asset.
  • Fluency in Romanian and working knowledge of English is required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced academic degree in fields related to education science, policy, curriculum and instruction, or education technology. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of educational systems and the implementation of effective teaching methodologies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing curricula and educational products for general education. Candidates should have a strong background in innovative teaching methodologies and experience working with government institutions, which is crucial for navigating the educational landscape in Moldova.

Languages:
Fluency in Romanian is mandatory, and a working knowledge of English is required. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
