Job Overview: The Child Protection Officer will work within the Country Office, reporting to the CP Officer (Emergency) in the Child Protection section. This role focuses on providing technical, operational, and administrative support for programming, particularly in relation to Children on the Move initiatives. The Officer will engage in UNICEF's broader efforts to address irregular migration, collaborating with other UN agencies and NGOs, and participating in activities related to migration along the central Mediterranean routes. The position requires a proactive approach to program development, management, and monitoring, ensuring compliance with organizational processes and contributing to the establishment of child-friendly spaces and specialized service centers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Programme Development and Planning: Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of the NAGAH project, executing and administering various technical and program transactions, preparing materials and documentation, and ensuring compliance with organizational processes.
Programme Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results: Offer technical, operational, and financial support, coaching, and monitoring for project activities, assisting in the selection of partner NGOs and governmental partners, and monitoring project activities in targeted locations.
Networking and Partnership Building: Participate in key meetings with national and international actors to support the development of national referral mechanisms.
Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building: Identify, capture, synthesize, and share lessons learned, applying innovative approaches and promoting good practices to enhance the implementation and delivery of results. Participate in capacity-building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Minimum requirements include a university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social science field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection areas is required, with experience in a developing country considered an asset. Desirable qualifications include at least two years of professional experience in child protection, particularly in emergency contexts, and mandatory experience working in a developing country.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in relevant fields such as international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or other social sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of child protection and social development.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas. Candidates with two years of experience in child protection, particularly in emergency contexts, will be preferred. Experience in a developing country is mandatory, as it provides essential insights into the challenges faced in these environments.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, as effective communication in both languages is crucial for collaboration with local partners and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
