Job Overview:
The Country Operations Technical Project Advisor I will play a crucial role in the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) project, which aims to enhance awareness, availability, and access to contraceptive self-care methods. This position involves supporting the design, implementation, and adaptation of the DISC project across various countries, including Nigeria, Uganda, Malawi, and others. The advisor will be responsible for developing implementation guidance, training partners, and ensuring quality of care and demand generation approaches are contextualized effectively. The role also includes monitoring performance data, cultivating partnerships, and contributing to the sustainability of the project's impact. The advisor will work closely with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders to integrate self-care methods into health systems, thereby amplifying consumer voice and choice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Country Operations Technical Project Advisor I include:
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the project's technical activities and strategy, including innovative approaches in quality of care and demand generation (45% of time).
  • Regularly reporting on program activities, documenting key learnings, and preparing project technical reports for management and donors (20% of time).
  • Developing and contextualizing project technical guidance and providing technical assistance and training to build the capacity of project staff and stakeholders (25% of time).
  • Conducting field monitoring of technical activities to assess progress and resource utilization, providing recommendations for follow-up (10% of time).
  • Embodying PSI’s values of Measurement, Pragmatism, Honesty, Trust, Collaboration, and Commitment. The role may involve more than 30% international travel, and the percentages of time allocated to each duty are estimates that may change.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field, with a Master's Degree (or international equivalent) preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates should demonstrate solid technical knowledge in family planning program implementation, with a preference for knowledge in self-administered contraception. The ability to provide technical assistance and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with data analysis programs are also required, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's Degree in public health, social sciences, or a related discipline. The educational qualifications should align with the technical demands of the role, ensuring that the candidate has a solid foundation in health systems and project management.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in project management, particularly in the field of family planning and reproductive health. Candidates should have a proven track record of implementing health programs, providing technical assistance, and working with diverse stakeholders. Experience in capacity building and training is also essential, as well as the ability to adapt to fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.

Languages:
Expert proficiency in English is essential, both spoken and written. Additionally, fluency in the local language of the applicable country or region is strongly preferred. French fluency is also considered a significant asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings.
