Job Overview:
The UNV Nutrition Officer will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF’s Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (ECD) programming in Lebanon. This position is part of UNICEF Lebanon’s Nutrition Program, which aims to address the critical nutrition situation in the country, particularly among vulnerable groups such as Syrian and Palestinian refugees. The officer will be responsible for ensuring effective partner coordination, reporting, and supply tracking, contributing to the smooth implementation and monitoring of nutrition interventions, including Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), and ECD in emergency situations. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities and implementing partners, to achieve national and UNICEF nutrition goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UNV Nutrition Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
  • Ensuring data quality related to nutrition and ECD, including data collection, cleaning, and analysis from various sources.
  • Monitoring and reporting on relevant indicators as per the RWP monitoring plan.
  • Coordinating with the Ministry of Public Health and other relevant ministries to organize nutrition and ECD trainings and meetings.
  • Tracking nutrition supplies and maintaining accurate records of stock levels.
  • Contributing to the development of concept notes for nutrition projects.
  • Supporting quality assurance of projects through regular programmatic visits and participation in progress review meetings.
  • Gathering evidence and engaging in internal and external meetings.
  • Providing technical and administrative support for nutrition and ECD in emergency interventions.
  • Developing skills in project management, data analysis, and quality assurance within large-scale programs. 1
  • Strengthening abilities in coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. They should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, including care, respect, integrity, and accountability. The ideal candidate will have experience in nutrition programming, data management, and project coordination, as well as the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in nutrition or early childhood development will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of nutrition programming and its impact on child development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in nutrition, public health, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in emergency contexts, is highly desirable. Familiarity with data management and reporting tools is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse communities in Lebanon.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 1,606.56, along with annual and learning leaves, medical and life insurance, and free access to various learning platforms. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions in Lebanon.
