Job Overview:
The Livestock Specialist position at FAO Pakistan is crucial for the implementation of the 'Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Program (RBWRP)', which is funded by the European Union. This role requires a professional with strong analytical and quantitative skills to contribute to various livestock value chains. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of project activities, developing work and procurement plans, and providing technical assistance to improve livestock production. The position also involves capacity building for field teams, drafting technical specifications for livestock inputs, and contributing to assessments and reports related to the livestock sector. The Livestock Specialist will work closely with the FAO Representative and Senior Project Officer, coordinating with other FAO colleagues to achieve project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Livestock Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: implementing activities and interventions for the livestock sector under RBWRP; developing yearly and quarterly work and procurement plans; maintaining up-to-date data for progress reports; providing specialized technical assistance for project activities; conducting capacity building for field teams in livestock health and management; drafting technical specifications for livestock inputs; contributing to baseline and end-line assessments of the livestock sector; editing reports and guidelines related to animal production and good farming practices; designing training programs for farmer marketing groups; establishing linkages between farmer produce marketing groups and markets; reviewing grant applications for livestock farmers; and providing technical support for capacity strengthening in surplus produce marketing, storage, and transportation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Livestock Management, or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Additionally, a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in similar positions or livestock-focused projects is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of English and Urdu, and must be nationals of Pakistan. FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships are essential for this role. Technical skills in designing and implementing livestock value chains, proficiency in basic computer skills, and experience in field positions are also important qualifications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in fields related to animal and veterinary sciences, livestock management, or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Candidates must have their qualifications recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED), ensuring that their educational credentials meet international standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, particularly in roles focused on livestock management or related projects. Candidates should have experience in monitoring and implementing livestock value chains, as well as a proven track record of working in diverse locations and field positions. Languages:
