Job Overview:
The Information Management (IM) Specialist will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and harmonizing the data collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination systems across DRC Syria's Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) operations. This position requires ensuring compatibility with DRC's internal IM reporting system and the external IMSMA database. The IM Specialist will provide technical input and support to the Operations Manager, MEAL Manager, and other senior management as needed. The role involves producing high-quality IM products for reporting and advocacy, as well as supporting DRC's internal monitoring and evaluation efforts. The IM Specialist will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive information management system that captures and evaluates project implementation, coordinates with other Mine Action actors, and ensures effective data collection and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IM Specialist will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including: establishing a DRC HMA IMSMA-compatible Information Management system; developing forms, tools, and databases for project implementation; acting as a liaison between DRC and other Mine Action actors; coordinating with other agencies to create a centralized Mine Action database; ensuring cooperation with the MEAL department for reporting purposes; exploring innovative data capture and storage methods; designing and maintaining a web-based platform for data sharing; ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of shared information; producing monthly project progress reports; creating visual materials to support project implementation; conducting data quality checks; and establishing Information/Database Management policies and procedures. The IM Specialist will also provide expert advice to the HMA Operations Manager and undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, with full proficiency in ArcGIS and Survey 1,2,
  • Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in information management within a Mine Action context, including experience in database management linked to the IMSMA system. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders are essential.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, while a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required in addition to the necessary experience.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, particularly in information management roles within humanitarian or Mine Action contexts. Experience with database management systems, especially those related to IMSMA, is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in Arabic is required, as the role involves communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as non-management (G2 level) and is based in Rural Damascus - Al-Kisweh, Syria. It is an on-site role, meaning remote work is not an option. The contract length is 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. Free transport from a central location in Damascus is provided for employees. The expected start date for this position is as soon as possible.
