Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Field Security Associate plays a crucial role in supporting all security-related aspects of field operations, which include the security of staff, premises, and assets. This position is supervised by a Senior Officer, who sets general work objectives and provides necessary guidance. The incumbent is expected to maintain regular contact with other UNHCR staff members, UN agencies, NGOs, implementing partners, and Host Government Security authorities to facilitate operations. The primary responsibility of the Field Security Associate is to support and monitor the management of security issues, ensuring that all UNHCR staff members perform their duties in accordance with the organization's regulatory framework, which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, and UNHCR Policies. The role requires a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity, as well as adherence to the core values and competencies of UNHCR.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Security Associate is responsible for a wide range of duties, including: assisting the supervisor in evaluating risk levels and assessing existing security measures for UNHCR staff, operations, premises, partners, and persons of concern; conducting regular security assessment missions in coordination with UNDSS and other agencies; gathering and analyzing information about the security situation during field missions; ensuring compliance with security protocols and procedures in accordance with UNSMS policies and UNHCR policies; monitoring the physical security of UNHCR premises and reporting deficiencies; supervising the guard force in line with relevant UNSMS policies; assisting UNHCR Protection Colleagues in ensuring the physical protection and security of refugees and other persons of concern; providing support during the implementation of security-related projects; monitoring, updating, and reporting security-related events; processing administrative security issues; maintaining relations with UN security management system actors, local law enforcement agencies, and civil authorities; providing security briefings and training to UNHCR staff and partner staff; responding to staff queries on security issues; providing security-related advice to management; and maintaining liaison with Host Government Security Forces and security counterparts. The incumbent is also expected to perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Field Security Associate position must meet the following qualifications: for G6 level, a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or higher. Essential qualifications include a high level of knowledge in the security field, and desirable qualifications include relevant certifications in security and safety. Functional skills required for this position include IT-Computer Literacy, Field Security Operations, Security Analysis, and Cross-cultural communication. All candidates must demonstrate accountability, communication skills, organizational awareness, teamwork, commitment to continuous learning, and client and result orientation.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Field Security Associate position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent for those with 2 years of relevant experience.
